Down East Pagan -- Goodbye

July, 2008

Thick as I always turn out to be (socially retarded, you know), it is finally time for me to realize that this entire exercise in attempting to find a way to take part in our Pagan Communities here in the State of Maine was a total waste of time, effort, money, and emotional turmoil. There has been no response or participation from our community, let alone any from those who have given me face-to-face enthusiasm and declarations that they wished to do so -- so many months ago.

The only responses which I have received have been from the spammers, who have inundated their profile pages on the Forums section with links to their online pharmacies, loan companies, casinos, and pornographic websites, among other unpleasant places. And all for the sake of providing search engines with another link to find for their websites to raise their standings in the search databases. Rather than reading and responding to and taking part in Pagan discussions on the Down East Pagan forums as I had hoped, I spend my time deleting spam postings, and searching out and purging spamming registrants to the forums.

The few legitimate Pagan registrants who are members of these forums have never bothered to come back to talk. I always knew people thought I was boring, but it's quite another feeling to realize that they won't even abuse my nickel to talk with each other!

So this is the announcement that the Down East Pagan podcast is definitely no more. The web-hosting costs, while not excessive, have mounted to over $500 now, and in the processs I have purchased a significant amount of both equipment and software for which I no longer have any need (and apparently, never had any need for). In consequence, all of the whatever @ downeastpagan . com email addresses will soon be disabled, so please delete them from your address books.

I have decided that I no longer wish to continue shouting into a vacuum.

See what finding yourself assesssing what you've actually accomplished in the past three years, during those hours you couldn't get back to sleep from 3:30 a.m. onward, will do for one?

Blessings, both Bright and Dark,
Ananta Androscoggin

P.S., the Groves of the Greene Man's Denne, which was always separate, and never really any part of the Down East Pagan project at all, is still here, and is still welcoming any of our nearby urban pagans who wish to come here to worship among the groves.

P.P.S. -- As I was using the Internet "screen-name" of Ananta Androscoggin long before I began trying to produce a podcast, I am going to continue using it, as I see no reason why I should not.
